House Project : Adjacency Matrix

This adjacency matrix was constructed within the first part of the design process. Ideas were inspired based upon the desires of the Saffer family. The primary adjacencies are rooms that the family has requested are next to each other within the house.

House Project : Bubble Diagram

This bubble diagram was a second part of the design idea generating process. This was constructed based upon the above adjacency matrix. The idea of the bubble diagram was to create a general visual of where rooms would be located within the Saffer House.

House Project : Blocking Plan

A blocking plan was constructed based upon the above adjacency matrix and bubble diagram. This was only a draft as the final floor plan was revised differently.. The goal of the blocking plan is to create a more realistic visual of how rooms would be placed in proportion and location to each other within the house.

Various mediums including markers, highlighters and pens were used on vellum paper in addition to a triangular scale ruler. These mediums were used for phases 01-03 of the house project.

04

House Project : Pre-Lim Floor Plan

This pre-liminary floor plan was constructed based upon the above plans. It was revised to fit a more ideal floor plan and layout for the Saffer family and their needs. It was created as a rough sketch which prefaces the more refined and detailed floor plan below.

House Project : Refined Floor Plan

A refined floor plan was created based upon the preliminary floor plan. It was again revised to fit the ideal needs of the Saffer family. A variety of line weights and proportions were created using a triangular scale ruler and variety of pen and marker mediums.

House Project : 3D Model

This 3D model was created through the attachment of foam core to poster board using hot glue and pins. This was constructed based upon the plans above and more specifically the refined floor plan. Foam core was primarily used in building this model.

Each of the floor plans and models in phases 04-06 are practical in the aspect of space planning as they helped me as the designer and the client to visualize how space would be planned within the house.

House Project : Saffer Presentation

Displayed to the right is my vision for the Saffer Family. This presentation was created based upon the needs and desires they expressed during the consultation.. Microsoft Powerpoint was used as well as various vendor websites which is where I obtained photos of the appliances.

House Project : F, F & E

The furniture, fixtures, and equipment were selected for the Saffer House based upon the needs and desires that were expressed during the consultation. A modern contemporary design with a homey feel influenced this design as well. Various materials including leather, marble and wood are displayed to the left.

Lighting Group Project

Collaboration with two other student designers allowed for creative and practical lighting fixtures to be chosen for the Saunder family home. A boho, mid-century modern design was chosen which features various metals and neutral colors. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop and Microsoft Word were all utlitized in the creation of this poster presentation.
